The sneezing center is located in the brainstem in a region called the lateral medulla. The information that reaches that part of the brain comes through several nerves including the so-called trigeminal nerve, which carries a wide variety of signals. Some people sneeze while looking at the sun because the irritation of the eyes is misinterpreted as sneeze signal. Sneezes can also be triggered in men by an orgasm.
